2025年5月20日に開催された、Expo 2025 大阪・関西万博「テーマウィーク」に福田が登壇いたしました。「あなたの安全・安心な未来に向けた、災害大国である日本だからこその世界への提言」というセッションにて、福田からは「平時・災害の両立」および「市民目線でわかりやすく、できるだけ正確な防災ツールのあり方」についてお話しさせていただきました。
前者の考え方は、ガリア先生の言葉「Chance favours the prepared mind.（幸運は準備された心に訪れる）」にも通じるものがあると感じています。
当日は、パトリック・ハーランさん（パックン）の軽妙なモデレーションにより終始話しやすい雰囲気で、東北大学・今村文彦教授や(株)フォーラムエイト伊藤裕二社長のご発言からも多くの気づきと学びを得ることができました。

On May 20, 2025, Prof. Fukuda had the honor of speaking at the Theme Week of Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, in the session titled “Proposals to the World from Disaster-Prone Japan for a Safer and More Secure Future.”
Fukuda’s presentation focused on two key themes:
- The importance of integrating disaster preparedness into everyday life (resilience in both normal times and emergencies)
- The development of user-friendly and as-accurate-as-possible disaster response tools from a citizen-centered perspective
The first theme resonated strongly with the famous quote shared by Professor Galea: “Chance favours the prepared mind.”
Thanks to the excellent moderation by Patrick Harlan (“Pakkun”), the session maintained a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. I also gained valuable insights from the discussions led by Professor Fumihiko Imamura and President Yuji Ito, FORUM8 Co., Ltd.
