Overview (for International Students)
To obtain a master’s or doctoral degree through research and educational activities at the Division of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Osaka (UOsaka), to which the Laboratory of Environmental Design and Information Technology belongs, applicants must pass the entrance examination and join the laboratory of a research supervisor to conduct master’s or doctoral research. Applicants must obtain permission from their desired academic advisor before submitting their application for the entrance examination.
A. Enrollment Period and International Student Entrance Examination Period
Students who wish to enroll in the doctoral program (PhD) can choose from Oct, Apr-1, and Apr-2 below. Students who wish to enroll in the master’s program can choose from Apr-1 and Apr-2 below (many applicants choose Apr-2).
Oct. If you wish to start the PhD program in October 202X, you must pass the entrance examination in August 202X and submit your application in mid-July after approving the prospective academic supervisor (see below).
Apr. Alternatively, if you plan to enter the PhD/master’s program in April 202Y, you will need to take one of the following two exams (Y=X+1):
- The entrance exam in August 202X, with the application deadline in mid-July after approving the prospective academic supervisor (see below).
- The entrance exam is in late November 202X, with the application deadline in mid to late October after approving the prospective academic supervisor (see below).
Many international students choose to become research students (non-degree-seeking students) before applying for the entrance exam to better prepare themselves. While this is not mandatory, it is an option worth considering.
Applications for research students are accepted every month. If you wish to become a research student starting October 1, 202X, please note that all screenings must be completed, and your physical documents must arrive by mid-June, 202X after approving the prospective academic supervisor (see below).
B. Procedures for obtaining approval from an academic advisor
- Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Student: From No. 1 below
- Self-funded International Student: From No. 2 below
1. If you apply/are a Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Student: You enroll through the “Embassy” recommendation and the “University” recommendation (=MEXT Scholarship Student).

Before being admitted to UOsaka, you must first obtain a recommendation from the embassy of your home country and then undergo various screening processes. For details, please refer to the following URL and contact the embassy of your home country.

2. You need to register with the Admissions Assistance Desk (AAD) at UOsaka and submit the required documents. You can find more information here: https://www.ryumon.osaka-u.ac.jp/
3. If your application passes the AAD screening, the desired academic supervisor (e.g., Prof. Fukuda) will follow up with some additional questions related to your application. For your reference, the questionnaire is attached below in advance. Please note that there may be some overlap between the documents required for the AAD and those mentioned in the questionnaire, which you can disregard.
4. After reviewing the documents, the desired academic supervisor will conduct interviews to determine whether or not to accept the applicant.

概要（留学生）
環境設計情報学領域が所属する大阪大学大学院工学研究科環境エネルギー工学専攻での研究教育活動を通じて修士号または博士号を取得するためには、受験生は入学試験に合格し、研究指導を受ける指導教員の研究室に所属して修士/博士研究を推進する必要があります。入学試験の願書を提出する前に、希望する指導教員から受け入れ許可を得る必要があります。
A. 入学時期と留学生入学試験時期
博士後期課程（PhD）への入学を希望する学生は、以下のOct、Apr-1、Apr-2から選択できます。博士前期課程（修士）への入学を希望する学生は、以下のApr-1とApr-2から選択できます（多くの申請者はApr-2を選択します）。
Oct. 202X年10月に博士後期課程（PhD）に入学希望の場合、202X年8月の入学試験に合格する必要があります。そのため、希望する指導教員の受入承認後、7月中旬に願書を提出する必要があります（下記参照）。
Apr. 202Y年4月に博士後期課程（PhD）／博士前期課程（修士）に入学希望の場合、以下の2つの試験のいずれかを受験する必要があります（Y=X+1）：
- 202X年8月の入学試験（指導教員の承認後、出願時期は7月中旬）（以下参照）。
- 202X年11月下旬の入学試験（指導教員の承認後、出願期限は10月中下旬）（以下参照）。
多くの留学生は、入学試験を受験する前に研究生（非正規生）となることを選択し、日本・研究室での生活、及び、入試準備を行います。研究生になることは必須ではありませんが、是非、ご検討ください。
研究生の応募は毎月受け付けています。例えば、202X年10月1日から研究生として入学を希望される場合、希望する受入れ指導教員の承認を含むすべての審査が完了し、書類が202X年6月中旬までに到着する必要があります。
B. 指導教員の承認を得るための手続き

- 私費留学生：以下の2から
1. 日本政府（文部科学省）奨学金学生として申請/在籍する場合：大使館推薦と大学推薦のメニューがあります（＝文部科学省奨学生）。

4. 書類を確認後、希望する指導教員が面接を実施し、応募者の受け入れ可否を判断します。
