Society 5.0、すなわち「超スマート社会」の実現を目指し、人間・人工物・自然といった要素の関係性を総合的に設計する環境デザインの方法論を構築しています。また、AIをはじめとする情報通信技術（ICT）の高度な活用によって、環境デザインシステムの開発を進めるとともに、総合工学的視点から環境情報学の研究と教育にも取り組んでいます。
Aiming to realize Society 5.0—an ultra-smart society—we are developing methodologies for environmental design that comprehensively integrate the relationships among humans, artifacts, and nature. In parallel, we pursue the advancement of environmental design systems through the sophisticated use of information and communication technologies (ICT), including AI, and engage in research and education in environmental informatics from a comprehensive engineering perspective.

ポスドク研究員（博士研究員）を希望される方へ（日本人研究者）

本研究室では、都市・建築・環境分野におけるデジタル技術、AI、設計情報学、建設DX等に関心を持つ博士研究者との共同研究を歓迎しています。

現在、当研究室において新たに常時雇用可能な研究資金は確保しておりません。
そのため、ポスドクとしての受入れは、以下のような外部資金を獲得できる方を対象としています。

  • 日本学術振興会（JSPS）特別研究員（PD等）
  • 各種フェローシップ制度
  • 競争的研究資金に基づく雇用
  • その他、給与を伴う外部資金

外部資金への応募にあたっては、研究計画の立案・ブラッシュアップ等について協力いたします。

雇用および在籍形態について

本研究室では、原則として給与または研究費を伴う形での受入れを前提としています。

研究生等の非正規身分での在籍は可能な場合もありますが、その場合は大学の規定に基づく費用負担が発生することがあります。また、研究活動の持続性およびキャリア形成の観点からも、安定した経済的基盤を確保したうえでの研究活動を強く推奨します。

研究室の利用に関する追加費用はありません。研究に必要な基本的設備（例：PC等）は可能な範囲で提供します。ただし、高額な新規設備が必要な場合は、別途研究資金の確保が前提となります。

住居費等の生活費は各自の負担となります。

博士取得後のキャリアについて

博士号取得後のキャリアパスが見えにくいことが、博士課程進学への心理的障壁の一因となっている現状もあります。本研究室では、単に研究成果を積み上げるだけでなく、

  • 国際ジャーナルへの戦略的投稿
  • 研究費獲得経験の蓄積
  • 研究テーマの独立性の確立

を通じて、次のキャリア段階（アカデミア・研究機関・高度専門職等）へ進むための基盤形成を重視しています。

ポスドク期間は「一時的な雇用」ではなく、「研究者として自立するための重要な移行期間」であると考えています。

研究計画書に関する期待事項

研究計画書については、以下の点を具体的に明示してください。

  • 先行研究の広範かつ客観的・批判的レビューに基づく
    • 新規性（Novelty）
    • 学術的意義（Significance）
    • 本研究の貢献（Contribution）
    • 将来的発展可能性（Potential for development）
  • 提案テーマと本研究室の研究方向との関連性
  • 申請者自身のこれまでの研究実績との整合性および発展性

単なるアイデア提示ではなく、研究分野全体の中での位置づけが明確な計画を期待します。

For Prospective Postdoctoral Researchers (Overseas Applicants)

Our laboratory welcomes postdoctoral researchers who are interested in digital technologies, AI, design informatics, construction DX, and related topics in the fields of urban, architectural, and environmental studies.

At present, our laboratory does not have newly available funding to directly support the salary of additional full-time postdoctoral researchers. Therefore, we are able to host postdoctoral researchers who secure external funding, such as:

  • JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan (see below “Tentative Internal Deadline (Especially for JSPS Applicants)“)
  • Other fellowships provided by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)
  • Government-sponsored fellowships from the applicant’s home country
  • Any external funding scheme that provides salary and research support

We are willing to collaborate in developing and refining research proposals for competitive fellowship applications.

Affiliation Status and Visa Requirements

In order to conduct research in Japan, an appropriate visa status and formal institutional affiliation are required.

If a researcher wishes to stay in the laboratory without external funding under a non-regular student or equivalent status, tuition and related fees may be required in accordance with university regulations. Applicants are advised to consult the official university guidelines for detailed information.

There is no additional charge for the use of laboratory space. Basic research equipment (e.g., a personal computer) can be provided within reasonable limits. However, acquisition of expensive new equipment that is not currently available in the laboratory would require securing additional research funding.

From the perspective of professional development and financial stability, we strongly recommend that postdoctoral researchers secure a fellowship or salary-based funding source before joining. Personal living expenses, including housing, are the responsibility of the individual.

Expectations

We value the following qualities in postdoctoral researchers:

  • Ability to conduct independent research
  • A clear research plan aimed at publication in international peer-reviewed journals
  • An interdisciplinary perspective (e.g., urban studies × AI, design × data science)
  • Initiative and active participation in academic discussion

Postdoctoral researchers are expected to actively pursue research funding opportunities for their future career development and to aim to publish at least one to two journal papers per year.

Career Development After the PhD

The lack of visible career pathways after earning a PhD can sometimes reduce motivation to pursue doctoral studies. In our laboratory, we view the postdoctoral period not merely as temporary employment, but as a critical stage for establishing academic independence.

We emphasize:

  • Strategic publication in international journals
  • Experience in competitive research funding applications
  • Development of an independent research agenda

Our goal is to support postdoctoral researchers in building a strong foundation for the next stage of their careers, whether in academia, research institutions, or advanced professional fields.

Expectations for the Research Proposal

Applicants are expected to clearly address the following points in their draft research proposal:

  • Novelty, significance, contribution, and potential for future development based on a broad, objective, and critical review of prior research
  • The relevance of the proposed research theme to our laboratory’s research focus
  • The consistency and logical development from the applicant’s previous research achievements

The proposal should not merely present an idea, but clearly position the research within the broader academic landscape.

Tentative Internal Deadline (Especially for JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan)

Applicants who plan to apply for JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan ( https://www.jsps.go.jp/english/e-fellow/e-ippan/index.html ) must submit their draft proposal well in advance of the university’s official internal deadline.

For the current round, The University of Osaka internal deadline is July 31, 2026.
Accordingly, the deadline for submitting your full draft proposal to me is July 23, 2026, 5:00 PM.

Late submissions cannot be accommodated. Please prepare your application materials with sufficient time for review and feedback.
