Evaluation of the soundness of environment based on DNA microarray analysis of microbial community

’S“–FD2 Rahul Upadhye

yIntroduction and Purpose:z DNA microarray is recently being introduced in environmental researches for the analysis of vast genetic data obtained from a variety of species. In a typical DNA microarray experiment, we can analyze the gene expression profiles obtained from a community sample and compare it with another. This comparative analysis of the environmental samples, according to samplefs occurrence, is a better way of characterizing the occurrence and distribution of a particular microorganism. Additionally a common functional guild in nature can be thus established amongst different organisms, this means the species which have a common motif in degrading the pollutants are more linked to each other rather than a different species occurring in the same habitat. These functional guilds are important in monitoring the soil (and water) quality, both on a short term as well as for prolonged periods. Certain pathogenic strains are known to be widely distributed in our environment, and it is equally important for the safety of our society to monitor pathogenicity in our vicinity. The purpose of my research is to investigate the ghealthness of the environmenth from a biosafety perspective.
