Frequently Asked Question from Students

Q: Now, I know the names and affiliations of the mentors. How do I know who is the best for me?
A: They are the leading researchers in their respective fields. For detailed information, please contact the administrative office via email or the phone. A Mentors Database, from which you can find a mentor will be posted on our website and updated regularly.

Q: I can't find a potential mentor in the list of the Mentors Database. Can I ask a person who is not listed in the database to become my mentor ?
A: Yes, you can. We welcome your proposal. However, the final decision will be made after direct consultation with you.

Q: Do I need to write a mentoring proposal?
A: Yes, you are required to do so. Through the process of writing a mentoring proposal, you will discover your real interests and the career path you want to pursue. Writing a mentoring proposal is the first requirement when you start working in society. This would be a good training opportunity for you, to clarify your thinking and the significance of your work.

Q: How can I have a mentor?
A: First, you need to write a mentoring proposal, which will be examined by the administrative office. Then you need to visit the mentor to explain and discuss your proposal, which is the first mentoring opportunity for you. This is the start of activities in the mentor system.

Q: What is the difference between the Practical Mentor System and the PB Leader Training Program?
A: In the Practical Mentor System, discussions with your mentor are the primary opportunity to obtain advice and instructions. On the other hand, in the PB Leader Training Program, you not only visit your mentor, but also participate in a project led by your mentor and receive supervision and instruction through real work experience. Students are screened after the completion of the Practical Mentor System before promoting to the PB Leader Training Program. This means that not everyone can join the latter program. However, we envision the Practical Mentor System will be implemented in a flexible manner. Therefore, it is possible for students in the Practical Mentor System to participate in a project led by their mentor if mentors deem it necessary.

Q: Can I have a mentor who lives overseas?
A: Yes, you can. In this case, too, your travel and accommodation expenses are covered by the program. So, don't hesitate to submit a proposal to study under an overseas mentor.

If you have more questions, please contact the administrative office.
