Abstract: In recent years, Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has developed rapidly. Different parties employ different BIM systems in respective areas or stages during a construction project. An important ability of BIM is that it allows a model to contain rich information including geometric and non-geometric data. Therefore, BIM models should be coordinated and integrated together for applications during a building's life cycle. A common platform is recommended to reduce the possibility of data loss or errors when sharing different models. This research employed a Bentley i-model, which is a container for open infrastructure information exchange and facilitating integration, interoperability, and sustainability of BIM data. Further, this research developed a BIM-based reporting system based on the integrated i-model. This system can extract non-geometric data including quantity, size, price, types, and descriptions from BIM models for calculation and analysis accurately. The results will be generated via comprehensive reports for different purposes. This method can not only save time and cost, but also reduce potential human errors. In addition, a high-tech plant construction project was used as an example to demonstrate the developed functionalities and verify their feasibility.
