Research Interests
Basic chemistry of actinides and fission product (FP) elements is important
for achieving a safe chemical processing of spent nuclear fuels and radioactive
wastes. The objective of our research is to study the chemical characteristics
and specific behavior of actinides and FPs under the condition of various
systems, such as aqueous solution, hydrate melt, molten salt, liquid metal,
as well as in environmental systems. For these studies, analytical methods
applying spectroscopy, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and radiochemical
techniques are adopted.
Researches are conducted on the following scientific subjects with respect
to rare metals, rare earths, and actinides.
1. Coordination properties of the elements in electrolyte solutions
2. Separation characteristics of the elements between two phases
3. Isotope chemistry of the elements under global environments
